The Meskwaki Casino is a nice casino featuring a great variety of games, it is located in Tarma, Iowa. Over 1,350 slots (classic reel machines, hot slots, video poker), 21 tables including Bingo, Blackjack, Craps, Bad Beat Baccarat, Roulette, Pai Gow and 10 poker tables are available in the establishment. The Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa is the only federally recognized Indian tribe in Iowa. Our tribal name is Meskwaki,Red Earth People. Roughly 200 days after the COVID-19 pandemic forced closures around the country, Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel (MBCH) has been forced to lay off workers in an attempt to keep their doors open.

As a break from the norm, Meskwaki recently developed a branded line of various retail products. These custom product lines extend to include coffee, meat sticks, tobacco, unique spices, and more. Through multiple channels of distribution, Meskwaki hoped to use these products to extend their reach on the market.
Impact was tasked with providing these exclusive product lines with a rebranded sense of identity. Through each step of development, we work closely with our clients to better understand specific objectives. With Meskwaki, we focused on finding an effective point of balance in our branding strategy. The new product lines are an extension of Meskwaki’s larger operation, but they’re being presented individually in an unfamiliar arena. The brand identity we developed painted each product as something rare, raw, and exciting, but also left subtle connections to vintage Meskwaki history.

Meskwaki Department of Natural Resources exists to preserve, conserve, and restore the natural resources of the Tribe so they may uphold the sovereign rights of the Tribe, provide for future generations, strengthen the Meskwaki culture and protect Grandmother Earth.

Department Overview:

Meskwaki Department of Natural Resources’ goal is to achieve strong, well-rounded and fully operating programing that is grant funded and community based. MNR is committed to building long-term capacity of MNR staff, other tribal departments, and the community to manage Tribal natural and environmental resources; while working together to mitigate potential issues that may impact the environment or the health and welfare of Tribal Members. MNR consists of an Environmental Division and a Fish, Wildlife and Habitat Division. These divisions work collaboratively across programs to tackle large-scale projects pertaining to water, air, land, and life. To highlight and focus long-term objectives, MNR has developed an adaptive 10-year Department Program Plan(click here to view). The plan will allow the Tribe and MNR to prioritize issues and focus available resources on issues most critical and important to the community. To solidify the commitment to cultural ties, MNR has created a departmental cultural plan (attached below). Across all department programs, MNR views youth involvement, community input, and outreach activities as highest priority. Involvement today leads to better outcomes tomorrow.

• MNR strives to work with the community and people of the Settlement to gain an understanding of the communities needs as they relate to the well-being and survival of the culture.

Cultural Plan:

MNR’s goal is to strengthen and expand the ties of all natural resource areas to the cultural and traditional knowledge of the community.

This can be accomplished by exercising professional responsibilities in the context of cultural traditions and expectations by:

• Assisting members of the tribe so they may acquire the knowledge and skills needed.
• Making use of locally-produced materials (reports, videos, maps, books, tribal documents, etc.) in all subject areas and working in close collaboration with other agencies.
• Maintaining a close working relationship with and making appropriate use of the cultural and professional skills of co-workers from the tribe.
• Perform yearly Cultural programs/education.
